I mentioned several times that we use YNAB to budget our money. It’s great software and we couldn’t function without it.
When George found such a great discount on bulk orders of Rtic tumblers, we decided to go for it. I asked him how we’re going to track it. We have a budget category called “Money Game” in YNAB. George suggested I make a major category for the Money Game with two sub-catgories one for the game and one for the “store”. I love this idea!! The game category holds each deposit as we level up. The store category is where we post the charge for anything we buy to sell.
Leveling up may slow down temporarily depending on how long it takes for the tumblers to arrive and actually sell. We hate “debt” so any windfalls, money from sales, etc. will go the store until it’s back in the black. The “debt” is only to ourselves. We have more than $600 in the Money Game category and a negative $321 posted to the Money Store category. There’s plenty to cover the negative amount.
When I open YNAB, The Money Game categories look like this:
- Money Game $605.61
- Money Store -$321.00
Does that make sense?
Level Completed: 99 out of 251 Total Balance: $651.32
Our Money Game fund has increased 27.74% so far this month.
Have fun and level up!
