It hit me that the Bible stories of people in need seem to start with “what do you have?” a boy with a few fishes, a widow with a little bit of olive oil. Then God multiplies it. Look around and see what you have. Are you managing it well? Are you sharing with others?
Do what you know to do with you have and take care of what you have. More always seems to come.
Every Wednesday I check our balances in fuel and groceries. Groceries was over $3 and change. It’s not enough to stress about. On Wednesdays, I move the weekly budget amount in so we’ll have a few dollars less for the coming week. We can live with that.
Fuel was under $53.26 and that’s today’s power up. (Yes I could have moved a few dollars from fuel to zero out groceries but George and I prefer to look at any category that turns red as a huge red flag. It turns on the alarms and tells us to stop spending.
We used to whack-a-mole but it hid our overspending from us. We don’t do that any more if it’s a matter of simply overspending.
Do you know how happy it makes me to know that we’re only 3 days into the month and have already increased this fund by 1 1/2 percent?
