I hope that posting our menus for the week will remind you that food is probably your biggest opportunity for finding savings.
I snapped a picture of one of the pages of menus I collected in the planner I use for our kitchen and meals. Every time I find something new that we like, I add it to the list. I have 4 pages like this now and they are golden. I don’t have to rack my brain trying to think up something. I keep a post-it note under the last meal and the next week, I move it down. That way I just keep working down the list. If we get in a mood to have something different, I always have that option. But this way, I can always quickly plan menus and get to the store without serving the same thing over and over again.
I have the dinners in groups of four – a beef, chicken, salmon and vegetarian meal. As I work down the list each week, that helps me make sure George is eating a better variety of protein than just beef (which would be his choice!)

- grilled salmon fillets and okra from our garden
- steamed quinoa with stir fried veggies
- chili con carne
- chicken with Paleo onion gravy, steamed red potatoes and veggies
- grilled mustard salmon
If you’d like to see any recipes, just ask in the comments. This week’s fare is pretty much “every day” food but we still take time to cook it right and to season it so it tastes good. I keep things like avocados and salsa fixings in our kitchen so it’s easy to make something as simple as chili a bit nicer.
Recent correspondence (the minutes from the annual meeting) from our beach property POA didn’t have anything about new assessments. We’ve been budgeting about twice as much as necessary so the $150 budgeted this month is going to be the power up today.
