is teaching them how to earn a living and support themselves.
I wish I had thought of the Money Game while mine were still at home. Think of the creative things a kid could do to level up! The game changes as your balance grows and their ability to make money with more money will grow and mature.
This would also help them learn why we talk in terms of percent growth. Seeing how to apply math this way could really help them get into their math classes more.
The Money Game 
My son has a coin jar. Any money he sees in the street or the few times we have gone to the laundry mat and saw it on the ground, he picks it up and then puts it in his jar. He has been faithful to his coin jar so far.

How old is he? That’s admirable. Most kids would want to spend it.

He is now 15 and still looks around for change everywhere!
